Home From Iraq

Nick is home from Iraq. After spending one whole year on foreign soil, he's back in the States. He left Iraq on Thursday, January 17th along with 300 other Marines. They flew to Kuwait, then to Ireland, then to Hungary, then to Canada, then finally to Cherry Point, NC. From there the Marines boarded busses and arrived at Camp Lejeune about 11:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, January 22nd.

These trucks were carrying all of the "luggage."

Here come the busses!!!

Wow, he's home!

Driving a civilian vehicle for the first time in six months (he had come home in June for two weeks, so he drove then, too)
Nick and my other "son," Joey Williams - Joey is also a Marine from Hudson, MI who is stationed at Camp Lejeune. He is a mechanic on a CH-53 helicopter.

Are you having fun in North Carolina? I talked to Nick a little last night on the computer - sounds like he's really happy to be home!

Yes, we're having a relaxing vacation. Last night Nick took us to a Japanese restaurant. Our dinner was cooked right in front of us - it was pretty cool. Today I want to go souvenier shopping. I told Nick that I just want him to drop me off at the Exchange so I can pick out what I want then I'll find him when it's time to pay (he has to show his I.D.). I hate shopping while Nick and Chuck are "waiting" right next to me!

I would love to go shopping with you! Maybe we'll ditch Chuck and Charley when we're in Vegas and have a shopping trip of our own. They can find something else to do!

Sounds good - while I was shopping, Nick & Chuck changed the oil on Nick's truck. Maybe we can find someone who needs their oil changed in Vegas so we can go shopping by ourselves!!!
