Black Friday

Visiting With Santa

Aunt Margie, Lyz, Alyssa (Jacob's girlfriend) & I got up bright and early this morning and hit the Lehigh Valley Mall. We arrived at 7 a.m. Lyz & Alyssa went their way while Margie and I went our way. The mall was pretty crowded at 7 a.m., but we managed to have a good time and get lots of shopping done. Margie & I even had the opportunity to visit with Santa. By 11 a.m. we were exhausted, so we headed to Ruby Tuesday's for lunch. Well rested and fed, we once again hit the stores. After we were finished at the mall, we went to Best Buy. Let me tell you, by the time we were finished at Best Buy, we had to re-arrange the whole car to fit all of the packages in! We headed back to the DeBoer's to drop Lyz & Alyssa off and freshen up, then Margie & I went back out to do some more shopping. First to Walmart, then Kohl's and finally to Sam's Club. We finally finished shopping about 7 p.m. Wow, are we exhausted! At home again, Charley, Margie & I had pie and coffee, then sat in the living room to watch a movie. Luke, his girlfriend Erin, Jacob & Alyssa, Michael, Nick & James all left to go to the movies. They are planning to see "Walk the Line." So, this was a very busy day but we had a great time.

Thanksgiving 2005

James and I drove to Aunt Dot's on Wednesday. We left school at 1:30 p.m. - tried to avoid the snow - didn't work. The roads were misreable all the way thru Ohio and for the first 100 miles thru Pennsylvania. It took us forever. We had to drive 40 mph for a good two hours of the trip. We arrived at Aunt Dot's at midnight. I did a lot of praying on this trip! Nick drove up from Camp Lejeune, NC with a friend who lives 12 miles from Aunt Dot, so she picked him up at 10:30 p.m. He didn't run into any bad weather, but they hit Washington, DC at 5 p.m. - rush hour. His trip took a little over 12 hours, which was 2 hours longer than it should have been. I guess there was a big accident on I95 around the DC area.
This morning Nick, James & I drove up to Wind Gap. We're having Thanksgiving with the DeBoer's. We'll drive back to Glenside on Saturday and spend the night with Grammy, Aunt Dot & Julia (Uncle Chuck is in VA visiting his parents).
Chuck and Kyle are staying behind in MI for Thanksgiving. Chuck has to work on Saturday and Kyle has a wrestling scrimmage. They'll have Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma's house in Hudson, MI.
